After almost two months of being back in the States, I have began to miss blogging and more importantly Australia in general. I miss the people, the sights, the (mostly) good weather, and hell, even the metric system. Every week down there seemed to bring new adventures, as I traveled around Sydney and elsewhere. Every time I look at a picture of Sydney Harbour, I want to go back to those sunshine days- staring out over the the beautiful blue water, and the world's greatest skyline. Sydney Harbour was my place...it gave me that boost of energy and enthusiasm every time I looked over it.
But for now I am back in the good ol' USA. Upon returning in December I spent three weeks back at home in California. It was relaxing, and very enjoyable spending quality time with family and friends back in the Bay Area. Christmas and New years were rather uneventful, but enjoyable nonetheless. In early January I flew back out to beautiful Colorado to face real school and that dreaded thing called reality. Being back it feels like I never left, as I feel back at home. Its been great seeing my friend's who I haven't seen in nearly a year, as well as getting settled into my condo and my new car!!! But this post isn't about explaining the mundane in and outs of my time back here, but to talk about a theme relevant to my life lately: appreciation.
As much as I loved Australia, I really have no right to complain about being back. I am blessed to live in two beautiful states, with supportive family and friends. I love waking up and seeing the Colorado Rockies everyday...that sight never gets old. I mentioned that I found something special in the sight of Sydney Harbour; well that is yet another thing to be appreciative about. No matter where I am, whether it be in Colorado, California or Australia-I find things that make me tick...I find my place. I have been talking to my friends lately about my love for traveling and exploring new places, and I am very fortunate to be able to explore and expand my horizons in such a way. Yet while I am home (wherever that may be) I have come to a sense of gratitude, appreciation and joy for what lies around me every day.
With that said, and as much as I am settling into life and reality back in the States... I have just signed up to go on a mission trip to Panama over spring break! I am so incredibly stoked. Not only do I get to spend nine days in a region of the world I have never been, but I get to experience what its like doing mission work while traveling. God has great things in store and I am pumped to experience it all.
